We are currently seeking an experienced Fire Sprinkler Apprentice to join our Wichita, KS team! The Apprentice will assist the Foreman in the installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of fire suppression systems and will learn industry standards, safety procedures, and proper system operation while supporting daily job site tasks.
Job Responsibilities:
Assist with System Installation
- Assist in the installation of fire sprinkler and suppression system components.
- Help measure, cut, thread, groove, and assemble pipe and fittings.
- Assist with installation of sprinkler heads, valves, hangers, and supports.
- Help stage and organize materials and tools needed for the job.
Assist with Inspections and Testing
- Assist Foreman during inspections of fire suppression systems.
- Help perform system testing including flow tests, alarm tests, and valve checks.
- Record inspection findings as directed by the Foreman.
- Assist with documenting deficiencies.
Maintenance and Service Support
- Help perform routine maintenance on fire suppression systems.
- Assist with replacing sprinkler heads, gauges, valves, and other system components.
- Help identify damaged or non-compliant equipment.
Job Site Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
- Load and unload tools, materials, and equipment.
- Follow all safety procedures and OSHA guidelines.
- Use proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
Learning and Development
- Join Sprinkler fitters Local 669 Union.
- Participate in training and apprenticeship program requirements.
- Learn NFPA codes and fire protection standards.
- Ask questions and actively learn from Foreman and technicians.
- Demonstrate willingness to develop technical skills.
Safety Responsibilities:
- Follow company and jobsite safety rules at all times.
- Immediately report unsafe conditions to the Foreman.
- Use ladders, lifts, and tools safely.
- Assist with maintaining safe work zones.
Expectations:
- Arrive on time and ready to work.
- Maintain a professional attitude on job sites.
- Follow instructions from the Foreman.
- Take initiative in assisting with tasks.
- Show steady progress in learning the trade.
Job Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license
- High School diploma or equivalent
Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
- The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop; kneel and crouch.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust and focus.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
