We are currently seeking an experienced Commercial Insulator to join our Wichita, KS team!
The Insulator installs and finishes insulation on mechanical systems including chilled water, heating water, plumbing, steam, equipment, and ventilation ductwork. Work is performed at commercial and industrial job sites, primarily in Wichita and surrounding areas, with occasional travel to out-of-town or overnight projects as needed.
This position plays an important role in ensuring energy efficiency, system protection, and a professional appearance on every project.
Job Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings to determine insulation requirements
- Measure, cut, and install fiberglass, elastomeric (Armaflex), mineral wool, and foam insulation on piping, ductwork, and equipment
- Fabricate and install jacketing systems such as PVC, aluminum, stainless steel, or ASJ
- Seal seams, fittings, and terminations using approved tapes, mastics, and adhesives
- Insulate fittings such as valves, strainers, flanges, and tees using preformed covers or custom fabricated insulation
- Ensure all work meets specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations
- Maintain tools, materials, and a clean work environment
- Work collaboratively with project managers, foremen, and other trades to ensure smooth job progress
- Follow all company safety policies including PPE, fall protection, and site-specific requirements
Requirements:
- Prior experience as an Insulator or in a related construction or trade role is preferred. Training is available for the right candidate.
- Knowledge of insulation materials, thicknesses, and applications for various system types
- Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces such as attics and crawl spaces, and in various weather and temperature conditions
- Familiarity with safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and relevant local codes
- Ability to work efficiently with hand tools, knives, snips, tape measures, and banding tools
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and follow written instructions
- Strong attention to detail, craftsmanship, and precision
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel for out-of-town projects when required
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background check

Physical Demands: The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop; kneel, and crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
